Breakfast in Belgium

One of the many things Wellington does well is atmosphere. Its said Wellington has the highest number of cafes and bars per capita in the world, topping even the biggest contenders, New York included. By no means do we hold the spectacle of a city like NYC, but we do carry a certain charm and charisma, and its our cafes that add a significant portion to it!
This morning I found myself smack bang in the middle of the CBD breakfasting at a charming little Belgian spot, Leuven. By evening its an afterwork drinks spot, sporting some of Europes loveliest beers on tap and is renowned  for its mussels which are beyond delicious. There’s something very genuine in the feel of the place. I don’t claim to have spent a lot of time in Belgium, a week as a twelve year old doesn’t make me much of a local by any means. But I do know Europe and Leuven has a very genuine Europeanishness to it!
This morning I was spoiled with an immaculate flat white, the best potato cakes in town and superb waffles. Yum, great start to a morning!!
